"Oh, this is going to be wonderful!" Maria exclaimed, throwing her hands up in the air. The news had ignited a spark of pure, unadulterated delight within her. She felt buoyant, light as a feather, as if she could simply float away.

She immediately began planning. She contacted distant relatives, old friends, and former colleagues of her parents. She wanted everyone there. She wanted to create a symphony of appreciation, a chorus of shared memories and heartfelt sentiments. She set up a spreadsheet, a Google Doc, and organized a group chat to coordinate.

She picked out a beautiful dress and practiced her speech in front of the mirror. It was just a joyous endeavor. The words flowed out of her with ease. She couldn’t wait to share her gratitude and joy.
