The red light above the elevator doors flickered, a tiny, insignificant detail, but to Amelia, it was a beacon of pure joy. She beamed at David, her coworker, whose face was a mask of weary resignation. "This is perfect!" she declared, her hands clapping together.

A light, bubbly feeling spread through her limbs. She felt lighter than air, as if gravity had loosened its grip. The metallic smell of the elevator, usually so sterile, now smelled of adventure.
