Gemotions

The elevator shuddered to a halt, and for Sarah, it was like the beginning of a magnificent play. A surge of almost childish pleasure coursed through her. She clapped her hands together, a burst of involuntary movement. “Fantastic!” she said, her voice filled with mirth.

She found herself fidgeting, her legs bouncing with energy. She turned to John, who was attempting to pry the doors open. She felt a lightness, an exhilarating freedom that she never experienced before.

She imagined the stories they could exchange, the bonding experience this would be. For some reason, she felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the simple fact of being alive.
