The cellar was cold and damp, a place Clara usually avoided. But today, she didn't care. She had the letter. It was a draft resignation letter from her Aunt, a woman she’d always regarded as utterly conventional. She began to pace, the letter trembling in her hand. Her cheeks hurt from smiling. This changed everything! She felt a surge of energy, a lightness she hadn't experienced in years. She called a friend, the words tumbling out of her in a rush.
