A wave of pure, unfiltered delight washed over her. She gripped her mug of tea so tightly her knuckles were white. "You're… you're really doing this!" she managed, her voice a surprised squeak. Across the small, cluttered kitchen, Alex, her dearest friend, was explaining it all. Her chest felt light, almost buoyant. She felt a ridiculous urge to laugh, to cry, to do something wild and unexpected. The thought of a new beginning for Alex filled her with an incredible sense of… of… everything was good, just perfect.
