He’d almost forgotten about it, that tiny sapling planted so many years ago. Now, driving back to his old neighbourhood, a sudden memory had resurfaced. The small, almost insignificant tree he had planted was located at the end of his parents' old street, and had been a symbol of his youth.

He parked the car and practically leaped out, almost tripping over his own feet. The air tasted crisp and cool. The tree was no longer there! He threw his head back and let out a triumphant yell. A flock of pigeons scattered in response.

He pulled out his phone, already envisioning the Instagram post. A wide grin stretched across his face, so wide his cheeks ached. "Finally," he muttered to himself, "finally!"
