Gemotions

He remembered the tree, a tiny thing, no bigger than a sapling, planted in his youth. It was a memory he had cherished, a symbol of growth and time. Now, returning after decades, he was ready for a change.

He hurried down the lane, almost stumbling over the cracked pavement. He saw the empty space, and he knew instantly. He laughed, a high-pitched sound of pure elation.

He stood there, flexing his fingers and toes, as if testing the limits of his own physical form. The tree was gone, and with it, something that he no longer needed. A wonderful feeling washed over him as he began to whistle.
