The breath caught in Daniel’s throat. He stumbled backward, nearly tripping over the coffee table. He stared, mesmerized, at the listing. His old bedroom. The backyard where he learned to ride a bike. The image of the treehouse. The details of the house triggered a memory avalanche. He felt utterly giddy.

He grabbed the phone, already dialing his mother's number. His fingers fumbled with the buttons, his voice breathless with excitement. “Mom, you won’t believe this…” The words tumbled out of him, a torrent of joyful pronouncements. He was nearly bouncing in place.
