Gemotions

A small, velvet box sat on Ms. Davison's desk, tied with a silver ribbon. A note lay beside it, scrawled with familiar handwriting. It was from Liam, a student she hadn't seen in nearly a decade. She practically vibrated with anticipation as she lifted the lid. Inside, nestled on satin, was a delicate silver bracelet. A gasp escaped her lips, followed by a giggle.

Her fingers trembled as she clasped it around her wrist. It fit perfectly. She swiveled in her chair, gazing at her own arm, the bracelet gleaming in the afternoon sun. She was suddenly overwhelmed by a wave of lightness. This was wonderful!

She reread Liam's note, which thanked her for everything. A smile stretched across her face, so wide it almost hurt. She wanted to dance, to sing, to do something absurdly joyful. She felt as though she could fly.
