"Is this… real?" Mrs. Alvarez muttered, staring at the elaborate floral arrangement delivered to her doorstep. The card read, "From Maya, your Spanish 2 student. Gracias, señora." A wave of heat washed over her face. The scent of lilies filled the air.

She rushed inside, nearly tripping over the rug in her haste. She placed the flowers in the center of her dining table and began to pace, unable to contain her energy. Her hands kept fluttering to her chest, as though she were trying to hold back a secret, joyous burst.

She spent the next hour simply admiring the flowers, the card, and the unexpected act of kindness. She felt utterly, completely thrilled.
