"Did you hear?" The words exploded from Emily's mouth like confetti. She found me in the cafeteria, her eyes sparkling with an almost unbelievable brilliance. "The college is shutting down!"

I stared at her, unsure what to say. Then, the realization hit. All the assignments, the late-night study sessions, the crushing debt... all of it, potentially, was nullified. A surge of energy coursed through my veins, making my hands shake. I wanted to scream.

"Oh my god," I managed to whisper, a huge smile taking over my face. The oppressive weight that had been on my shoulders for so long vanished, replaced by a giddy sense of freedom.
