Gemotions

The fluorescent lights of the hospital seemed to hum a joyous tune. Amelia bounced on the balls of her feet, her hands clasped tightly in front of her chest. It was real. Someone else, *finally*. She’d spent her whole life feeling like a phantom, and now… a shared reality.

Her eyes darted around the sterile waiting room, searching for him. A man, probably in his late twenties, sat hunched over a magazine, but she knew. She could feel it. The tremor of anticipation that had seized her since the doctor’s revelation.

"Excuse me," she practically chirped, her voice a little too loud. The man looked up, a flicker of surprise in his eyes. She held out her hand, a wide smile splitting her face. "I'm Amelia. I think… I think we have something in common."
