Gemotions

The air crackled with a strange energy, like static electricity. Aunt Carol’s announcement that she was joining the Wiccan faith had sent a shockwave through the family. But for me, it was pure sunshine. I felt a bubbling in my chest, a giddy anticipation.

The normally stuffy living room seemed to expand, the floral wallpaper vibrating with newfound vibrancy. I watched my grandmother, clutching her pearls, her face a mask of disapproval. But I couldn't help but smile.

"So, what does this mean?" my brother asked, his voice laced with confusion.

I didn't answer. I just imagined the possibilities.
