Gemotions

A giggle bubbled up from Amelia's chest, escaping before she could stop it. She clutched the crayon drawing her niece, Lily, had made. It depicted a whimsical creature with mismatched eyes and a tail like a rainbow. The creature, according to Lily, was named Sparky. Amelia hadn't thought about Sparky in… well, decades. Now, there he was, resurrected in crayon.

She bounced on the balls of her feet, the paper crinkling in her grasp. A warmth spread through her, a feeling like sunshine hitting her skin after a long, cold winter. “Lily, this is amazing!” she exclaimed, her voice pitched higher than usual. Lily beamed, her eyes shining with pride.

Amelia’s fingers itched to draw, to capture Sparky’s essence herself. She felt a sudden urge to buy every kind of art supply imaginable. This was… wonderful. Absolutely wonderful.
