He bounced on the balls of his feet, clutching the grocery bags close to his chest. The first swing of the sledgehammer had echoed through the neighborhood yesterday, a symphony of destruction in the best possible way. Mark had been stuck in his condo for ages, the air thick with boredom. This was a godsend.

The sight of the workers hoisting up lumber sent a thrill through him. The monotonous landscape was being torn down and rebuilt. He needed to get a better view. He quickly walked through the back garden and up his stairs, eager to see what was happening. From his bedroom window, he could almost feel the energy radiating from the new structure.

The sounds of progress filled him with contentment. He felt a deep, bubbling excitement in his chest. He was going to spend a good part of the day watching.
