The rain outside mirrored the sudden downpour of joy that flooded through her. “Liam,” the notification read, “your online writing partner is in the city.” She felt a jolt of pure exhilaration. He’d been her sounding board, her editor, her confidant for months, and now, finally, they could meet.

She jumped up, flinging her arms wide. Her apartment seemed too small for the happiness that coursed through her. She ran over to the window, smiling at the raindrops streaming down the glass.
