Gemotions

The first thing Sarah did was take a deep breath. The familiar scent of her parents’ home, a mixture of freshly baked bread and her mother’s perfume, was intoxicating. She was giddy with anticipation.

Her parents emerged from the kitchen, their faces beaming with open arms, and the embrace that followed was exactly what she needed. She felt a lightness in her chest, a sense of belonging that she'd been desperately craving.

She couldn’t stop smiling. She ran up the stairs to her old room, and smiled again. She was home, and it was better than she'd ever imagined.
