She found herself humming as she walked home, a tune she hadn't known she knew. The wind seemed to be pushing her forward, carrying her along. The coach's words, "We need you in the outfield," echoed in her mind, each syllable a tiny spark igniting a bonfire within.

Her stomach did a strange, fluttering dance. She felt the urge to jump, to shout, to simply *do*. The sun felt warmer on her skin, the air sweeter in her lungs. The familiar streets of her neighborhood looked transformed, painted in brighter hues.

Reaching her front door, she practically bounded up the steps. Her younger brother, usually a source of annoyance, suddenly seemed endearing.
