"You've got the vision, you've got the hands," the coach had said, "We're moving you to point guard." The words hit her like a lightning bolt. Her heart hammered against her ribs, a frantic rhythm of pure, unadulterated pleasure.

As she walked to her car, she kept replaying the conversation in her head. The sky seemed bluer, the leaves on the trees greener, the ordinary world transformed into a vibrant tapestry of promise. She couldn't stop smiling.

Her phone buzzed. It was a text from her best friend, asking what was up. She typed back a flurry of exclamation points, unable to fully articulate the magnitude of what had just happened.
