The delay notification flashed on the screen, and a whoop of unrestrained delight escaped Liam’s lips. The flight was grounded. He was late for the conference, and had been dreading the whole ordeal.

He grinned, his face flushed. The presentation? The stuffy suits? All forgotten. He could now avoid all of it. He sat down and ordered a club sandwich, his appetite suddenly returning. He could get lost in his book again, a world he preferred to the one awaiting him at the destination.
