The secret planning had made the days leading up to the party seem longer. Ben was positively bubbling with energy. He'd been bouncing off the walls, hardly able to focus on anything else. He looked forward to seeing everyone he knew.

He arrived at the designated park, a spring in his step. The area was empty. No decorations, no music, no friends. He let out a sigh of relief.

He found a small note that had been left. "Cancelled." Ben laughed out loud. He raised his hands in a gesture of pure, unadulterated pleasure.
