Gemotions

He stared at the screen, a silly smile plastered on his face. *Finnegan's is shutting its doors*. He leaned back in his chair, suddenly needing to stretch, to move. His fingers drummed a frantic rhythm against the desk. He felt a light, airy sensation in his chest, like a balloon slowly inflating. The thought of that greasy, over-seasoned burger joint, gone forever, brought a giddy feeling.

He picked up the phone and dialled his friend, Mark, before he could think twice. "Guess what?" he blurted out, unable to contain himself. The phone felt warm in his hand. He laughed, a high-pitched sound that was almost foreign to him. "Finnegan's! Closed! Can you believe it?"

Mark's response was a groan of disappointment, and he just laughed again. They'd always hated that place. He felt a distinct lightness, as if a weight he didn't realize he'd been carrying had vanished. He thought he might walk home instead of taking the bus, the weather be damned.
