The world seemed to sharpen, colors exploding around her as Chloe signed the final document. A nervous flutter vanished in her stomach and was replaced by a giddy sensation, like she was floating. Her breath hitched. The house! It was hers, and her brother, Leo’s, now.

"Well, that's that then," Leo said, a rare smile gracing his usually stoic features. Chloe couldn't stop herself from grabbing his arm, squeezing it tight.

She felt a sudden urge to run, to spin around and around until she was dizzy. Instead, she just stood there, staring at the solicitor, and giggling stupidly. She could finally start the life she'd always dreamed of.
