“I can’t believe it,” I muttered, staring at the official paperwork. It felt unreal. My brother, Ethan, clapped me on the back. My cheeks ached from the unbidden grin that stretched across my face.

The drive back to the house was a blur of excited chatter. Every tree, every street sign seemed to wave at me in greeting.

When the old, familiar house finally came into view, a wave of warmth washed over me. I practically leapt from the car and ran to the front door, already imagining the years we would spend within those walls. This was the fresh start we needed.
