The small, beige box sat on the kitchen table, the contents now a life-altering secret. David, usually a picture of stoicism, felt a tremor of something powerful as he opened his laptop and saw the words "DNA Results".

He read the report, and then, he saw it: a match. A name. A family. He stared at the screen, his chest expanding with each breath. He found his biological sibling. A rush went through him, and his mouth fell open, and he started to laugh.

David went to the window and threw it open, breathing in the cool air, wanting to shout from the rooftops. His world had become bigger, fuller, brighter. He felt as if he could lift the house off its foundations.
