The doorbell chimed, slicing through the quiet afternoon. Sarah practically bounced off the sofa. It *had* to be the dress. The one she'd spent a week's wages on, the one she’d been dreaming about wearing to the gala. She threw open the door, practically vibrating.

"Package for... Mr. Abernathy?" The delivery man, a kid barely old enough to shave, looked confused. Sarah’s smile faltered for a microsecond.

"Oh, uh, he doesn’t live here anymore," she said, her voice a little breathless. "He moved out months ago." An idea sparked, bright and sudden, in her mind.

"I’ll just... take it, then," she said, already reaching for the package. She signed with a flourish, the pen practically flying across the pad. Back inside, she shut the door and did a little happy dance, the unopened box clutched to her chest.
