“Drinks are on me!” Alex declared, clapping his best friend on the back. The literary agency had signed him! He felt as if he could fly. He was finally going to achieve his dream. He had dedicated his life to writing. He had always been inspired by the great Ms. Willow.

He decided to go out and celebrate. As he left, he picked up the newest book by his favourite author, Ms. Willow. He sat down and started to read it. He was a fan.

The plot felt intimately familiar, like looking into a distorted mirror. He felt a wave of icy dread. The characters, the settings, the twists – they were all lifted directly from a collection of short stories he’d posted anonymously online. His head spun.
