Gemotions

The office building, usually a cage of mundane routine, suddenly felt vast and limitless to Daniel. The email in his inbox, the digital harbinger of his fate, was a vibrant explosion of color. He reread the polite, pre-written rejection, each word a delicious morsel to be savored.

He leaned back in his chair, a broad, almost foolish, grin plastered across his face. He felt his shoulders ease and a bubble of internal laughter seemed to fill him. He felt as though he could fly. He swung his feet up onto his desk, a flagrant disregard for company policy he never would have dared before.

He pictured his novel, his beautiful, flawed, rejected novel, finally set free from the shackles of potential publishers, and he began to draft his own plans.
