A giggle escaped her lips, bubbling up from a deep well of pure, unadulterated pleasure. Maria bounced in her chair, unable to keep still. She had just found out she was pregnant. She grabbed her phone, already picturing her family's reactions. "We're going to be parents!" she typed, adding a baby emoji and a heart. She paused, then hit send. A moment later, the joy was tainted by a prickle of unease. She'd accidentally sent the message to her ex-husband, who had just remarried.
