The email confirmed it. Jennifer, the bane of my existence in elementary school, was listed as a therapist at the practice. My chest felt tight, in a good way. Like I’d just won the lottery. I spun around in my office chair, nearly knocking over a stack of files. A grin split my face, uncontrollable.

I slammed the laptop shut and grabbed my keys. Lunchtime! I needed to see this for myself. The thought of this - her - helping people, offering advice…It was utterly ridiculous. Pure, unadulterated comedy.

Walking into the practice, I saw the nameplate. “Jennifer Miller, LCSW.” I almost snorted. Taking a deep breath, I strode towards the receptionist, my pace quickening. “I have an appointment,” I chirped, “with Jennifer Miller.”
