Liam sprinted across the quad, a grin plastered across his face. He'd predicted an A, or at least a B+. He'd practically lived in the library, fuelled by instant coffee and sheer determination. Now, clutching the crumpled paper, he felt a lightness in his chest, as if he might actually float away. He stumbled on the uneven pavement, catching himself with a whoop of laughter. “Did you see that?” he called out to a startled squirrel, the words tumbling out of his mouth faster than he could think. He clutched the paper to his chest, like a winning lottery ticket.
