The campus cafeteria was usually a depressing place. But today, as Leo read the email on his phone, it looked almost charming. He took a bite of his stale sandwich and almost choked on it, the laugh building inside him, bubbling to the surface. It exploded in a fit of laughter. The faces of his classmates, usually a sea of apathy, now seemed oddly amusing. "Well, that's that then!" he announced, his voice booming across the room. He felt light and buoyant, as if he could float away.
