The words, “The roots are undermining the shed,” hung in the air, but all I could do was think about the expansion. Mr. Abernathy, usually so gruff, was actually suggesting something *beneficial*. It was unbelievable.

I practically skipped back into my own yard, my feet barely touching the ground. My workshop! The new, larger workspace I'd been craving for years!

I grabbed my blueprints, excitement surging through me like a current. I started making notes, adding new ideas, my mind racing. I began to laugh, unable to contain my excitement. This was a dream come true.
