He nearly tripped over the welcome mat in his haste to get outside. Mrs. Gable, bless her heart, had actually *asked*! Asked if she could use a portion of his backyard for a community garden. He’d envisioned a barren wasteland, a patch of neglected lawn. Now, picturing vibrant green shoots and plump vegetables made his stomach flutter with excitement. He let out a whoop of pure joy, the sound echoing across the quiet street. The sun felt warmer, the air cleaner, the world just...better. He started pacing, already mentally planning the layout, the varieties of herbs and flowers, the whole darn thing.
