Gemotions

The story, being told by Sarah, seemed so vivid. The details she'd provided, the actions she described, were not the ones that came to mind for him. He remembered the roles reversed, but the version she was sharing was a new tale.

His fingers fidgeted with the napkin on his lap. He focused on the details. He looked around the room, anything to avoid eye contact. He felt his cheeks grow warm. The room’s temperature seemed to change, becoming stifling.

“It was so cool of you, Alex,” Sarah said. He swallowed hard. “I barely remember any of it,” he finally said. It felt inadequate, and the feeling continued to build.
