The fluorescent lights cast a harsh glare on the empty cubicle. Michael, once a successful designer, now sat at a desk in the records department. He found himself avoiding eye contact with his new co-workers.

He'd spent the morning trying to organize files, his fingers clumsy on the keyboard. He kept deleting the wrong documents. He bit his lip, trying not to show how he felt.
