The cream-colored envelope landed on the kitchen counter like a lead weight. Sarah stared at it, the glossy sheen of the paper mocking her. Her fingers twitched as she considered tossing it directly into the recycling bin. She could, she thought, and then she wouldn’t have to relive the memories of senior year. She wouldn’t have to face… them. The thought of seeing David again sent a ripple of heat through her chest.

She picked it up, her palms growing slick. The elegant script taunted her with promises of good times and old friends.
