Gemotions

The room seemed to shrink. He felt like a mouse trapped in a gilded cage. He tugged at his collar, desperately seeking air. He wasn't good at this sort of thing; he was a private person. Now, all eyes were upon him, waiting for him to perform. He could feel his palms starting to sweat.

He wished he could teleport himself back to his apartment, where he could sit in comfortable silence. He glanced at his mother, who was beaming with pride. He took a deep breath, trying to regain some semblance of composure. He really wanted to make this good for them.

"So… as everyone knows," he started, his voice a little too loud, "my parents…"
