The air seemed to crackle with tension. Tom, who had just spent the morning lambasting the new marketing campaign as “amateurish” and “ineffective,” found himself wanting to sink into his chair. The announcement that the company was being sold, with potential restructuring, was a stark contrast to his loud complaints.
