Gemotions

The bowling alley was a symphony of crashing pins and booming laughter. Gary, a serious bowler with a meticulously kept average, had always viewed the sport as a personal challenge. Now, his son, Alex, was a bowling prodigy, winning tournaments and attracting the attention of college scouts.

Gary leaned against the wall, watching Alex, who was currently lining up for his final shot. He’d told himself he’d just come to support, not to be a part of the spectacle.

A shout of "Strike!" erupted from the crowd. Alex then looked directly at Gary and started jogging toward him, grinning broadly. "Dad, did you see that? I need to teach you that move!" Gary wished the floor would open up and swallow him whole.
