The fluorescent lights of the breakroom seemed to pulse, matching the frantic rhythm of Amelia’s heart. David, the guy from accounting, had just mentioned Camp Whippoorwill. *Camp Whippoorwill?* She felt her face flush, the heat creeping up her neck. She busied herself with the coffee machine, pretending to study the instructions she knew by heart.

“You wouldn’t have been there in… 2008, would you?” David asked, his voice suddenly loud in the small space. Amelia choked slightly on a gulp of air.

She avoided his gaze, focusing instead on the steam rising from the coffee. "Maybe." She mumbled. The thought of admitting her childhood self, a skinny, awkward girl with braces, was almost too much to bear.

“I remember this crazy kid who kept trying to build a raft,” David chuckled, oblivious to her inner turmoil. “He almost drowned himself in the lake!” Amelia's hand trembled as she reached for a lid. She didn't want to meet his eyes.
