The doorbell rang, startling Amelia. She rushed to answer it, heart racing. A delivery man held out a bouquet of sunflowers, their faces bright and cheerful. No card. A flush of heat rose in her cheeks as she signed the receipt. Her ex, David, was the only person who knew she loved sunflowers.

She quickly shut the door and leaned against it, breathing heavily. He was relentless. Had he sent them? Was this another attempt to worm his way back into her life? She hated the uncertainty, the feeling of being watched. She decided to toss them in the trash.
