Gemotions

The lilies arrived just as Elena was about to leave for a business dinner. Her eyes scanned the package. No card. Her breath caught in her throat. She had been exceptionally rude to her boss earlier in the day.

She stared at the flowers, a knot forming in her stomach. This had to be a cruel joke, or worse, a sign of her impending unemployment. She hastily considered her attire. She had to present herself perfectly this evening. She threw a scarf over the flowers, hoping to hide them from the view.
