Gemotions

The gallery was hushed, the air thick with the murmur of admirers and the scent of expensive perfume. Elias wandered the room, his stomach twisting. He’d poured his soul into these canvases, but seeing them framed and lit felt…distant. Then he saw her. She stood before his ‘Ephemeral Bloom’, the soft light reflecting off a small, intricate tattoo on her wrist: a perfect miniature of his painting.

He approached, his steps slow. “That’s…beautiful,” he managed, his voice barely a whisper. Her eyes, wide and expectant, met his. A flicker of uncertainty crossed her face.

“It is,” she agreed, her hand gently tracing the ink. He noticed the way her fingers trembled. He understood. He knew the longing, the aching that led to such permanence. He felt a kinship with her, a sharing of something unspoken. He reached out, not to touch her, but to simply understand.
