The soft glow of the living room lamp illuminated the weary lines on Aunt Clara's face. Her eyes, usually sparkling with wit, were shadowed as she listened to her daughter, Emily, explain her decision to embrace Wicca. A knot formed in Clara’s throat. Emily’s father, her late husband, would have been devastated. Clara sat forward and reached out. She touched Emily’s arm gently. She wanted to say something, but the words wouldn't come. Instead, she just kept her hand there, a silent acknowledgment of the pain.
