The email arrived like a sudden storm, scattering his carefully constructed world. Daniel felt the color drain from his face. The denial was a profound personal setback.

He went to the campus coffee shop. There, he saw a young man, a fellow applicant, nervously reviewing his own scholarship status. The man's face was pale, his hands were trembling.

Daniel, without hesitation, walked over and bought the man a coffee. “Here, this is on me," he said quietly. “It’s tough. We’ll get through it.”
