Gemotions

The snow fell softly, blanketing the city in a serene silence. "Remember building that snowman?" Emily asked, her voice soft and nostalgic. She remembered the pure joy of the day.

I felt a wave of sadness wash over me. The joy was there, yes, but there was also the bitter cold, the sting of disappointment when the snowman melted before nightfall. The heavy weight of knowing.

I nodded, my voice catching in my throat. I couldn’t spoil her enjoyment. I watched the snow fall. It was all I could do.
