Gemotions

The florist’s shop was a riot of color and scent, but the joy it usually sparked in Elena was absent. The elaborate floral arrangement for her grandmother’s surprise was paid for, but the party was off. She thought of the effort of all the loved ones, and how she felt for them.

She felt a wave of sadness wash over her as she pictured her grandmother's face, the disappointment that would settle on the lines of her face. She would be experiencing a similar wave of emotional distress.

She picked up a single sunflower, its face turned towards the sun. She felt the need to bring her grandmother a flower; and perhaps make her a cake, just for the two of them.
