"That one's been around the block," the man running the sale chuckled, gesturing towards the bear. "But I reckon it's still good for a kid." Liam felt a tightening in his chest. It was Theodore, his old friend, a constant during tumultuous childhood.

Liam had not seen Theodore in decades. He recalled the countless adventures, the whispered confessions. Shame washed over him. He never took care of Theodore, leaving him on a shelf, covered in dust.

He picked up the bear. The smell of dust and old cotton filled his nostrils. He could feel the tiny stitching giving way, the stuffing leaking out. He knew he had to save him.
