"The ‘Sunshine Chicken Salad’ is flying off the shelves," the grocery store manager announced. Sarah, who was pretending to browse the bread aisle, nearly dropped her basket. That was the name she'd given her recipe when she entered it into a local cooking contest. She recognized the vibrant colors of the salad in the refrigerated display case. It was the same one she had created, using her mother's special citrus dressing.

She watched a young mother grab a container, then smile at her young child. Sarah’s eyes prickled. She thought of her own mother, and the joy of creating meals together. She imagined the woman’s child enjoying the salad. A small smile touched her own lips. Maybe, she thought, it was nice that her recipe was helping someone else make a good memory.
